
Dr. Mateja Rek
Prof. Dr Mateja Rek is a full professor of sociology and researcher in the field of communication studies. She lectures at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto and at the Faculty of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. She holds a BA in Cultural Studies and a BA in Communication Studies, an MA in Management of Non-Profit Organisations, and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Ljubljana. Since 2013, she has been the head of the Infrastructure program, which collects data on media literacy in Slovenia and is funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency. Recently, she was also the head of the Jean Monnet module – Media Literacy for Active Citizenship, funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
She has published several high-level scientific papers in the fields of digital communication, media literacy and education, media construction of reality, strategic communication, social change and development, active citizenship and civil society in the EU.
