
Dr. Matej Makarovič
He is a professor of sociology and dean of the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, coordinator of the Research Network on Sociology of Social Transformations in the European Sociological Association and the president of the Slovenian national Committee of the MOST programme at UNESCO. His research interests include social change, interaction between social and technological factors, the challenges of democratic governance in the digitalised contexts, and encouraging sustainable social practices. His perspective on social change ranges from the macro-level systemic perspective to the micro-level individual behaviour with a particular emphasis on reflexivity.
He was a Jean Monnet Chair in the field of the European Transnational Governance for Sustainable development (2019-2022).
