ASCOLA’s Annual Conference

The Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA) holds an annual conference which this year (2024) took place in Germany at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg University (JMU). The conference can only be attended by ASCOLA members who are academics working in the field of competition law.

In this year’s conference Zeynep Ayata participated as an invited speaker in the plenary session “Getting to Grips with the Gatekeepers: A Comparative Perspective” which took place on Friday July 5th, 2024.

In this session speakers discussed decisions adopted by competition authorities in digital markets and new regulations proposed or adopted for competition between digital platforms in various jurisdictions. On the same day, she also participated in the Young Scholars sessions where she was invited to discuss a paper on the interplay of data protection and competition law.
